01  —  Aerial Work Platforms

Boom Lifts

NorthPoint's boom lift fleet covers towable, articulating, telescopic, and 4x4 rough terrain models — from 34 to 60+ feet of working height. Choose based on your site conditions and required reach. Our team will help you pick the right model for the job if you're unsure.

Boom Lift Delivery — What You Need to Know
Boom lifts are delivered on NorthPoint's flatbed delivery trucks. Our drivers confirm site access conditions when you book — provide your site address and any access details (soft ground, slope, narrow gates) so we can confirm delivery feasibility. Free within 5 miles of any NorthPoint location. Statewide delivery available beyond 5 miles, always quoted before you confirm.

02  —  Aerial Work Platforms

Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts provide a large, stable work platform for vertical access on flat and near-flat surfaces. NorthPoint carries electric indoor models and rough terrain diesel outdoor models. Electric lifts are zero-emission and non-marking — required for most indoor and finished-floor environments.

Electric vs. Diesel Scissor Lift — Which Do You Need?
Working indoors?
Always electric. Diesel lifts produce fumes and are not safe in enclosed or occupied spaces. Electric lifts are zero-emission and suitable for any interior environment.
Working on finished floors?
Electric with non-marking tires. The JLG 1930ES and 2630ES use non-marking tires to protect polished concrete, hardwood, and tile floors.
Outdoors on uneven ground?
Rough terrain diesel. The JLG 3246R has 4WD and the ground clearance to handle construction sites, gravel, and soft outdoor surfaces.
Need to reach over obstacles?
Choose a boom lift instead. Scissor lifts only go straight up. If you need horizontal reach or need to get above an overhang or tree, book an articulating boom lift.

03  —  Material Handling

Telehandlers

A telehandler — also called a lull, lull lift, or reach forklift — combines the reach of a crane with the mobility of a forklift. It is the essential machine for lifting and placing heavy materials at height on construction sites where a fixed forklift can't maneuver. NorthPoint carries the SkyTrak 6042, the most common size for NH residential and commercial construction projects.

Telehandler vs. Forklift — What's the Difference?
A standard warehouse forklift has limited lift height and can only operate on flat, paved surfaces. A telehandler has an extendable telescoping boom that reaches 60 ft high and 42 ft forward, all-terrain drive for construction sites, and the ability to work on soft or uneven ground. If your job is on a construction site, on rough ground, or requires placing materials at height — you need a telehandler, not a forklift.

04  —  Personnel Access

Man Lifts & Personnel Lifts

Single-operator vertical mast personnel lifts for compact elevated access in tight interior spaces. Man lifts are the smallest footprint solution for individual maintenance tasks at height — ideal when a scissor lift is too large for the space or when only one operator needs access at a time.

Common Questions

AERIAL EQUIPMENT RENTAL FAQ

What boom lifts does NorthPoint carry in New Hampshire?
NorthPoint carries four boom lift models: the Nifty Lift SD50 4x4 (50 ft articulating, 4WD rough terrain), the JLG 600S (60 ft telescopic), the JLG 450AJ (45 ft articulating), and the JLG T350 (34 ft towable articulating). Model availability may vary by location — call ahead to confirm what's available at your nearest store.
Can I tow a boom lift without a flatbed?
Yes — the JLG T350 towable boom lift is designed to be towed behind a standard pickup truck with a standard hitch. No flatbed required. It's the most accessible boom lift for homeowners and contractors who want to transport the lift themselves. All other boom lifts in the NorthPoint fleet require flatbed delivery. NorthPoint delivers all models to your site — call your nearest location to arrange.
What is the Nifty Lift SD50 4x4 and when should I rent it?
The Nifty Lift SD50 4x4 is a 50-foot articulating boom lift with four-wheel drive. It is specifically designed for rough terrain — soft ground, slopes, muddy or uneven job sites. This is the most popular boom lift in NorthPoint's NH fleet because New Hampshire job sites often have the exact conditions the SD50 is built for. Choose it any time your site is not flat, level, and hard-packed.
Do I need a special license or certification to operate a boom lift or scissor lift?
New Hampshire does not require a specific government-issued license to operate aerial work platforms for private use. However, OSHA regulations require that operators be trained and qualified for each specific type of lift they use. NorthPoint provides an operator walk-through covering safe startup, operation, and shutdown with every aerial equipment rental. If you have questions about your specific application, call us before you book.
What is the difference between an articulating and telescopic boom lift?
Telescopic boom lifts have a single extendable boom that provides maximum horizontal reach and height — ideal for working directly above the machine's position at long distances. Articulating boom lifts have multiple jointed arm sections that allow the boom to fold, reach over obstacles, and access areas that a straight boom cannot. Choose telescopic for maximum reach and height; choose articulating when you need to get around or over obstructions.
Can I use an indoor electric scissor lift outdoors?
Electric scissor lifts like the JLG 1930ES and 2630ES are designed for flat, stable indoor surfaces. They can be used on smooth outdoor surfaces like paved parking lots and concrete slabs, but they are not suitable for soft ground, gravel, uneven terrain, or significant slopes. For outdoor rough terrain use, you need the JLG 3246R diesel rough terrain scissor lift. Call your NorthPoint location if you're unsure what your site conditions require.
Does NorthPoint deliver aerial equipment to my job site?
Yes. NorthPoint delivers all aerial equipment — boom lifts, scissor lifts, and telehandlers — to job sites across New Hampshire. Free delivery within 5 miles of any NorthPoint location (Ashland, Tilton, Hooksett, Rumney, Colebrook). Statewide delivery is available beyond 5 miles for a fee, always quoted upfront before you confirm. Provide your site address and access details when you book so the delivery team can confirm logistics.
How far in advance do I need to book aerial equipment?
For scissor lifts and the towable boom lift, same-day or next-day booking is often possible depending on availability. For larger boom lifts and the SkyTrak telehandler, booking 24–48 hours in advance is recommended. During busy season (spring through fall), booking further in advance improves availability. Reserve online 24/7 at northpointrentals.com or call your nearest NorthPoint location directly.
What is a telehandler and when do I need one instead of a forklift?
A telehandler (also called a lull, reach forklift, or telescopic handler) has an extendable telescoping boom that reaches 60 ft high and 42 ft forward — far beyond any standard warehouse forklift. It's built for construction sites with soft or uneven ground, and it places materials at height where a fixed forklift simply cannot reach. If you're placing roofing materials, framing lumber, or trusses on a construction site — you need a telehandler. Call (603) 499-7926 if you're not sure which machine fits your job.
