What do I need to rent equipment from NorthPoint?
Every rental requires the following:
Your credit card is required at the time of reservation but is not charged until the rental period begins. All rentals must be paid for in advance.
Is a deposit required?
No deposit is required for most equipment rentals. A major credit card is required. You will be asked for payment information when you reserve, but your card will not be charged at the time of reservation — only when the rental begins.
This is NorthPoint's standard policy across all five NH locations. If specific equipment or circumstances require different terms, the store will let you know before you confirm.
How do I book equipment?
There are three ways to book:
Online — 24/7: Visit northpointrentals.com to browse real-time availability, select your equipment, choose your dates, and reserve. The online system works around the clock — you can book at midnight for a 7:30am pickup.
By phone: Call your nearest location during business hours. Staff can help you choose the right equipment, confirm availability, and schedule delivery. Mon–Fri 7:30am–5pm, Saturday 8am–12pm.
In person: Walk in to any of the five NH locations. Bring your ID, proof of address, and credit card.
How far in advance should I reserve?
The earlier the better, especially during peak construction season (April through October) and for larger equipment such as excavators, telehandlers, and boom lifts. High-demand machines — particularly 2-ton and 5-ton mini excavators — book out several days in advance during busy periods.
For standard tools and contractor equipment, same-day or next-day availability is often possible. For delivery, same-day scheduling depends on route logistics — call your location to confirm.
When we hold a piece of equipment for you, we are marking it unavailable to other customers. This is why advance notice matters for both reservations and cancellations.
Can I walk in without a reservation?
Yes — walk-in customers are welcome at all five locations during business hours. Bring your photo ID, proof of address, and credit card. Equipment availability at walk-in is subject to what is on the lot that day, so calling ahead is always recommended if you need a specific machine.
What rental durations are available?
NorthPoint offers daily, weekend, weekly, and monthly rental terms. Long-term and multi-week rentals are available for extended construction projects and come with better per-day rates. Discuss your project timeline when you book and we will find the most cost-effective rental structure for your schedule.
Can I extend my rental if the job takes longer than expected?
Yes. Contact your rental location as soon as you know you need more time. Extensions are subject to equipment availability. You can call the store directly or update your rental through the online system. Extending early is always better than returning equipment late without notice.
What is the cancellation policy?
NorthPoint will assist with cancellations and rescheduling, but advance notice is required. When equipment is reserved for you, it is marked unavailable to other customers — so the sooner you notify us, the better for everyone. Call your location directly to cancel or reschedule.
There is no online cancellation — cancellations must be made by phone during business hours.
What does the rental rate include?
The rental rate covers the machine for the agreed rental period. It does not include:
All applicable charges are explained before you confirm your rental. NorthPoint does not add surprise fees to your invoice.
What payment methods does NorthPoint accept?
NorthPoint accepts all major credit cards, cash, and check. Charge accounts (Rent Now Pay Later) are also available for contractors and businesses — see the Programs section for details.
How does the Best Price Guarantee work?
NorthPoint will match or beat any local competitor's quote for the same equipment. If you find a lower price from another rental provider in New Hampshire, bring the quote to your nearest NorthPoint location and we will match it before you reserve. This applies at all five NH locations.
The guarantee covers identical equipment from local competitors — same machine, same rental period, same region. Call the store with the competing quote to confirm the match.
Who is responsible for fuel?
Fuel is the renter's responsibility. Equipment leaves the NorthPoint yard with a full tank and must be returned full. If you cannot refuel, NorthPoint will refuel the machine and charge for the amount used at current fuel rates.
What is the Rental Protection Plan (RPP)?
The Rental Protection Plan (RPP) is an optional coverage plan available with your rental. It limits your financial liability in the event of accidental damage to the equipment. Details, coverage terms, and pricing are provided at the time of reservation. Ask your rental location for specifics before you confirm.
The RPP does not cover damage resulting from misuse, abuse, or failure to follow operating instructions.
Can I get a quote before reserving?
Yes. Pricing is available online at northpointrentals.com or by calling any location. When requesting a delivery quote, have your site address ready — delivery fees are based on distance from the nearest NorthPoint location and equipment type. All delivery quotes are provided before you confirm.
Does NorthPoint offer free delivery?
Yes. Free delivery is available within 5 miles of any NorthPoint location — Ashland, Tilton, Hooksett, Rumney, and Colebrook.
Beyond 5 miles, delivery is available anywhere in New Hampshire for a fee based on distance and equipment type. All delivery charges are quoted clearly before you confirm your reservation — no surprises on the invoice.
Can I pick up equipment directly from a NorthPoint location?
Yes. All equipment can be picked up from any NorthPoint location during business hours. Before you arrive, make sure your hauling setup meets these requirements:
NorthPoint retains the right to deny pickup if the customer's hauling setup is not adequate or safe. Chains, binders, and straps are available for purchase at the counter if you need them.
What do I need to tell you when scheduling delivery?
When booking delivery, have the following ready: the job site address, access details (unpaved road, steep driveway, gate code, overhead clearance issues), the surface type where the equipment will be unloaded, and any time constraints for delivery. The more information you provide, the better we can plan routing and ensure we bring the right transport equipment.
For remote sites, logging roads, or mountain properties — which are common in NH — call the store directly so we can plan the delivery appropriately.
Does NorthPoint deliver statewide across New Hampshire?
Yes. NorthPoint delivers equipment anywhere in New Hampshire from any of its five locations. The statewide network means shorter delivery distances for most NH communities — Southern NH is served from Hooksett, Central NH and the Lakes Region from Ashland and Tilton, the Pemi Valley and Upper Valley from Rumney, and the North Country from Colebrook.
Statewide delivery beyond the 5-mile free zone is available for a fee — always quoted upfront.
Can NorthPoint deliver to remote or difficult-access sites?
Yes. NorthPoint's teams have experience with rural NH properties, logging roads, steep driveways, and North Country terrain. When booking, describe the site access in detail so we can bring the right transport and plan accordingly. If the site has access limitations that would make delivery unsafe or impossible, we will let you know in advance.
What happens if the equipment breaks down or has a problem?
Call your NorthPoint location immediately. Do not attempt to repair the equipment yourself — the rental agreement does not permit self-repair, and unauthorized repairs may result in additional charges.
NorthPoint will: troubleshoot by phone if possible, dispatch a technician to your site, provide replacement equipment if available, or adjust your rental charge. Your project will not be left without support.
Failure to notify NorthPoint of a problem does not relieve the renter of charges for the time the equipment is out.
Will I receive operating instructions?
Yes. NorthPoint will walk you through the basics of safely operating any machine before you leave the yard or before delivery is made. Staff can cover startup, controls, safety features, and shutdown procedures. First-time renters are especially encouraged to take a few minutes for this walkthrough — it saves time and avoids costly mistakes on the job site.
If you have questions while using the equipment, call your location. Do not guess on fuel type, attachment compatibility, or operating limits.
Can someone other than the person who rented use the equipment?
The equipment may be used by the renter and the renter's employees or agents — but only those who are fully trained and competent in its use. The rental agreement does not allow the equipment to be operated by untrained individuals or surrendered to a third party.
If you need a trained operator, ask your NorthPoint location — we can recommend qualified local operators for complex equipment.
What are my responsibilities during the rental?
As the renter you are responsible for: using the equipment only for its intended purpose, checking oil, pressure, and fluid levels before use, operating the equipment safely and within its rated capacity, fueling correctly and returning the machine full, not abusing or misusing the equipment, and notifying NorthPoint immediately of any mechanical issue.
You are not permitted to: use equipment for illegal purposes, allow use by untrained individuals, attempt repairs without NorthPoint's written approval, or surrender possession to any third party.
What if I damage the equipment?
Call NorthPoint immediately and do not attempt to repair the damage yourself. Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, or failure to follow operating instructions is the renter's liability. The Rental Protection Plan (RPP), if purchased, limits your liability for accidental damage — ask about RPP before your rental begins.
How do I return the equipment?
Return equipment to the NorthPoint location it came from, or schedule a pickup if it was delivered. Return it clean and with a full tank of the correct fuel. If you need to extend or arrange a pickup, call the store before the rental end date. Equipment must be in the same operating condition as when it was rented — normal wear is expected, damage is not.
How does the NorthPoint Loyalty Club work?
The NorthPoint Loyalty Club rewards repeat customers with credits that apply to future rentals. Every dollar spent on equipment rentals earns points toward your account tier.
Signing up is free. Points accumulate across all five NorthPoint NH locations — renting in Hooksett counts toward the same account as renting in Ashland. Ask any location to enroll or sign up online.
What is the Rent Now Pay Later program?
The NorthPoint Charge Account allows contractors and businesses to get equipment on site today and pay on manageable terms — instead of tying up capital in a single equipment reservation. This is particularly useful for multi-week projects where cash flow is allocated to materials, labor, and subcontractors.
To set up a charge account, contact any NorthPoint location or email [email protected]. A charge account application is required. Terms and conditions apply.
Does NorthPoint offer contractor or commercial pricing?
Yes. Contractors and businesses with multi-machine needs, long-term projects, or ongoing rental volume should contact NorthPoint directly to discuss pricing. Long-term and weekly rates are significantly better than daily rates, and multi-machine arrangements can be structured to fit project schedules.
Call any location or email [email protected] to discuss your project and set up an account.
Does NorthPoint offer referral bonuses?
Yes. NorthPoint Loyalty Club members can earn a $100 rental credit for every new customer they refer who completes a rental. Ask your nearest location for current referral program details.

Do all five locations carry the same equipment?
The Ashland, Tilton, Hooksett, and Rumney locations carry the full NorthPoint fleet on-site. The Colebrook North Country location operates differently — skid steers, compact track loaders, boom lifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, and compactor rollers are stocked on-site. Larger equipment such as excavators is delivered daily to Colebrook from regional hubs. Small hand tools at Colebrook are available for multi-day rentals only.
If you need specific equipment at a specific location, call ahead to confirm availability.
I've never operated heavy equipment. Can I rent?
Yes. NorthPoint rents to homeowners and first-time renters regularly. Before you leave the yard (or before delivery), staff will walk you through operating the machine safely — controls, startup, shutdown, and safety procedures. Compact equipment like mini excavators, skid steers, and tractors is designed to be operable by capable adults after a proper orientation.
If your project involves a larger or more complex machine, staff will honestly tell you if it is beyond what a first-time operator should take on — and can recommend a qualified local operator if needed.
How do I know which machine is right for my project?
Call any NorthPoint location and describe your project: what you need to do, the terrain, the space available, and your timeline. Staff with real construction industry background will recommend the right machine and size — not just what's available, but what will actually get your job done efficiently and safely.
Key factors that affect equipment selection: dig depth required, site access width, soil type (ledge vs loam vs clay), slope grade, and whether you are working near structures, utilities, or finished landscaping.
What are the most common homeowner rentals?
The most frequently rented equipment by NH homeowners includes: mini excavators for septic work, drainage, and landscaping grading; skid steers and mini track loaders for material moving, site cleanup, and snow removal; stump grinders for post-tree removal; log splitters; tillers and dethatchers for lawn work; pressure washers; generators; plate compactors for driveway prep and patio bases; and scaffolding for exterior painting and maintenance.
Do I need to clean the equipment before returning it?
Return the equipment in reasonable condition — not necessarily showroom clean, but without excessive debris, mud buildup in critical areas, or material left in buckets and attachments. Equipment should be returned the way you would want to receive it. Excessive cleaning charges may apply if the machine requires significant cleaning beyond normal use.
Does NorthPoint supply multiple machines to a single job site?
Yes. NorthPoint can supply multiple machines to commercial and residential job sites. For multi-machine rentals, contact your location directly — coordinating a large delivery is easier by phone than through the online system, and staff can sequence deliveries to match your project schedule.
How does NorthPoint handle municipal and public works accounts?
NorthPoint works with municipal departments and public works crews across New Hampshire for road maintenance, drainage, and infrastructure projects. Charge accounts, purchase order billing, and long-term rental pricing are all available. Contact [email protected] or call the nearest location to discuss your municipality's needs.
What attachments are available for excavators and skid steers?
NorthPoint stocks a range of attachments for excavators and skid steers. Excavator attachments include buckets (various widths), hydraulic thumbs, hydraulic hammers (breakers), augers, and grapples. Skid steer attachments include buckets, augers, trenchers, brush cutters, and pallet forks.
Attachment availability varies by location. When booking, specify your machine and the attachments you need — staff will confirm compatibility with the specific model you are renting and ensure everything is ready when you pick up or when delivery arrives.
Can NorthPoint accommodate rush or short-notice requests?
NorthPoint will do everything possible to accommodate short-notice requests. Same-day delivery depends on schedule availability and site location. For urgent equipment needs, call the store directly — the online system may not reflect same-day availability as accurately as a direct conversation with staff.
Are trailers available for rent?
Yes. NorthPoint has trailers available for rent. You will need to provide an appropriately rated tow vehicle and your own tie-downs. Trailer availability varies by location — call to confirm before booking.
Does NorthPoint offer equipment operator services?
NorthPoint is an equipment rental company — operators are not included with rentals. However, if you need a trained, licensed operator for a specific machine, the store can provide referrals to qualified local operators who work independently in the region.
